Principal's Word

Dear Parents and Caregivers

It has been a very productive term here at Safety Bay PS filled with a diverse range of learning opportunities for our students and numerous events that have encouraged the involvement of parents and community members which we will continue to build on moving forward. A major influence on a child’s outlook on learning and future aspirations is the relationship between their school and their family and the value placed on their learning by influential people in their lives.

At this morning’s assembly we farewelled three staff members who will not be returning next term. Mrs Johnson will be beginning maternity leave in Term but will be returning in 2018, no doubt with photos of the new arrival. Mrs Bartlett, who has filled many positions at Safety Bay Primary School, more recently the Art specialist will be retiring. After 40 years of service to education, Deputy Principal Ms Casey will be retiring from the Department of Education WA and heading back to Victoria to be with family and no doubt find a way to be involved in education. I wish these staff good luck for their future endeavours and thank them on behalf of the school community for their contributions.

Our three Triple P parenting seminars were well attended and feedback from parents indicated they were very successful. We have now created a parent library on connect that has resources for parents as well as links to local support agencies. We will continue to add to this over time.

Term 4 is always an exciting time of the school year as we see the culmination to all of the effort that staff and students have put in over the year. Keep an eye out on Connect for updates. Students are back on Monday October 9 and finish on Thursday December 14.

Mrs White’s supreme organisation ensured last week’s Athletics Carnival’s went well and students enjoyed the competition and I was personally impressed by the sportsmanship displayed by students. The parent turn-out was great to see and thanks to the many of you who helped out in various roles during the day.

Enjoy the two weeks of extended family time and we will see you all back in term 4.
